A window fell out of my building in the Loop today. If you look close you can see some of the shards of glass on the street.
*The window that fell came from high above, it’s not the boarded up window you see in the background. However that would be pretty funny if it were that window and all these cops came.

My response to a company email from yesterday. “I wanted to make you aware that For Tuesday and Wednesday next week, (Feb 15th and 16th), the break room will be utilized by [some corporate guys]. We are asking that you enter the break room from the back by the vending machines to utilize the sink and microwaves. Our Columbus Training room is reserved for all employees wishing to eat their lunch away from their desk from 11AM to 2PM for both days. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.”

This weekend Kate and I spent walking around the East and West Village in search of our new apartment. It took three days to find what we wanted and we’re completely stoked about it. The place is being renovated now, but I took a few pictures to show the process.

Obligatory of the Day: Redditor ratguy5 says: “I’m not usually one to celebrate Valentine’s Day but I hope my wife enjoys the valentine I made her…”
It says “choo-choo-choose me,” and there’s a picture of a train.

I was totally just on Google Images looking for this. Good job TDW.

Over the past month Kate and I have struggled with a decision about whether or not accept new jobs in New York and move away from our adopted home, Chicago. Moving to New York City has always been on the radar for me, but that meant leaving Chicago and I never wanted to do that. The past couple weeks have been crazy; filled with questions about leaving as well as some doubt about if this is what we really wanted to do. The decision to leave Chicago and move to New York has been extremely difficult and I’ve definitely lost some sleep over. But, in the end both Kaitlin and I have been offered amazing jobs in Manhattan that we can’t think of any reason to turn down. Both of us want to get out of the Midwest for a while. Just long enough that I can look forward to going back to Minnesota at some point…maybe. That’s me anyway. I’m sure Kate has her own opinions on that :-). We are going to miss Chicago and all the great friends we’ve made here like crazy. If we have ever said “hello” to each other than you are welcome to come and stay in our micro apartment that we hope to find this weekend. I’m sure there will be some space in a corner by all the books. :-)
We fully plan on coming back for Barry/Cummins house BBQ’s, Crawfish boils, that Pork Chop Sandwiches! FC championship match, US soccer matches at Soldier Field, Arsenal at The Globe, Stocks ‘n Blondes and those delicious late night tacos at Tony’s.
Scared Panda will continue on with as much force as it has here in Chicago. Maybe instead of creating city specific t-shirts we’ll focus on taking our lovable panda character and putting him in fun and unique situations. This has worked out pretty well for Pillow Fight! and DJ Panda. We’ll see, I guess you’ll need to keep an eye out for what happens.

Great pictures. This is/was one of my favorite bars in all of New York City
nythroughthelens:

I wrote an article this week for NearSay about Mars Bar, East Village’s gritty and legendary dive bar. Sadly, it will be closing soon. It seemed like a good time to document this iconic spot. In many ways, Mars Bar is one of the last remnants of an era that helped shape the East Village of the late 20th century.
This piece is a rather inclusive photo-spread of the interior and exterior of Mars Bar with a bit of context to go along with the visuals. There are also links to other interesting online recollections and works regarding East Village history and Mars Bar.

Avatar Hi, my name's Clint. I grew up in Minnesota and live in Chicago. I write software for a living and make t-shirts for fun.

I take pictures, ride snowboards, kick soccer balls, wear big headphones, eat late night burritos and cheer for the Gunners.
